Nachdem Selene den Vampir-Ältesten Viktor getötet hat, schwebt sie selbst in Lebensgefahr. Auch bei Vampir-König Marcus findet die Blutsaugerin keinen Schutz, und so begibt sie sich gemeinsam mit dem Hybriden Michael, halb Werwolf, halb Vampir, auf die Flucht. Zu zweit versuchen sie schließlich, hinter die Geheimnisse der Fehde und ihrer jeweiligen Blutlinien zu kommen. Da ahnt Selene noch nicht, dass ausgerechnet Michael die Antwort auf all diese Fragen bei sich trägt, und sie selbst die einzige ist, die den ewigen Krieg beenden kann.
